Some clients have a need to hide the full file path to resources on their site. There are plugins that do this for you, but those plugins are incompatible with the Force WP infrastructure. The reason the plugin does not work on our servers is that we use NGINX to serve static files like images. It’s one of the key ingredients to a high-performance setup.
We do have a solution for clients that wish to mask the URL of their images. You will want to log into your user portal and click on the install you want to mask the URL for images on. Next, click “Redirects.” Click “New Redirect.” You will see several fields but you will only need to fill in three fields: the source, the destination, and the redirect type. To choose the redirect type, select “Advanced Settings.”
Here are the values you will want to drop in:
- Source: ^/downloads/(.*)$
- Destination: /wp-content/uploads/$1
- Redirect type: break
If you copy these values and paste them in, just make sure there are no spaces anywhere. If you have any questions about this or need help, our support team is here for you, just open a 24/7 Live Chat.
